Competitive tryouts
WHEN CAN I JOIN?
Any player who is interested in joining the Rush Competitive program can do so at anytime, but it is highly recommended to attend July tryouts (spots cannot be guaranteed after July).
If players cannot attend tryouts, they are invited to train with a Rush team in their respective age group to determine the best developmental placement for them. Please contact the Rush office at
communications@twincitiesrush.com to be connected with the appropriate person to help you begin this process.

TRYOUT INFORMATION
The Twin Cities Rush Director of Coaching, along with other Twin Cities Rush Competitive Coaches, will lead the 2025-2026 team formation and tryout process. It is important to note that current Twin Cities Rush players are constantly being evaluated throughout their current season. Current players can think of tryouts as a “team placement period.” The goal of tryouts and team formation is always to continue to place players on appropriate teams where their game can best be developed.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND TRYOUTS?
- New players looking to join Twin Cities Rush
- Current Twin Cities Rush players
PLAYER PLACEMENTS
Every year in late July, soccer clubs conduct their annual tryouts to place players on a team based on their abilities. Those tryouts take hundreds of man hours to look at hundreds, possibly thousands of players in a short period of time. While majority of the players receive a tryout offer email and are placed appropriately, some may fall through the cracks, some cannot attend these tryouts, and some could be too nervous to show their true ability.
When we look at the athletes, we measure their technical and tactical abilities along with their physical and psychological attributes. A tryout period does not always allow us to fully rate players accurately. For these reasons, players will be observed throughout the entire year by their team Head Coach and Director of Coaching at training sessions and games. This process also us to more accurately within the Rush system. Evaluations will be based on the previously mentioned components in addition to attendance, attitude, team chemistry, and consistency, to name a few.
During any other time of the year, a Rush player may be asked to transfer to another Rush team or to guest play with another team. As players are constantly developing, we want to do our best to make sure they are in the right environments. This process will always be done with the player in mind first and what is best for their development.
